About the event
About the event
About the event
The clock is ticking to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the case for True Cost Accounting (TCA) as a tool to transform agrifood systems to meet these goals has never been clearer.
FAO estimates that the hidden costs of global agrifood systems total at least $10 trillion annually—costs borne by people, nature, and economies. Recent case studies have demonstrated the powerful potential of TCA to guide agrifood system decision-making by illuminating solutions that maximize benefits for people and nature. Now it’s time to move TCA into the mainstream.
To take this work to the next level, we are convening leaders from around the globe to identify the barriers to scaling TCA and agree to the concrete solutions needed to mainstream adoption of this approach by 2030.
By attending, you will have the opportunity to:
Engage with policymakers shaping national and international commitments
Connect with business leaders leveraging TCA for sustainability and profitability
Explore financing models with lower long-term risks and greater social benefits
Learn from researchers leading innovative multi-capital impact assessments
Contribute to a TCA roadmap for action that will drive real-world impact
This is your opportunity to be part of a transformative movement. Secure your spot today and help shape the future of food systems!

Welcome & Opening Remarks
In this opening session, speakers from the TCA Accelerator, FAO, and the TCA community will kick off the Summit and set the stage for the discussions ahead.
Speakers will share an overview of TCA core principles and cite examples that demonstrate how this approach can result in tangible actions that minimize hidden costs and maximize agrifood systems’ value for people and nature.
Speakers will situate the conversations to come within the broader political and cultural context, offering inspiration on how we can and must continue to advance despite challenging headwinds.

Lightning Talks & Panel: Community Insights
From October 2024 to February 2025, 79 experts from around the world gathered in six virtual workshops to review TCA efforts to date as well as identify the barriers and solutions to broader TCA implementation. The TCA Dialogue Series covered policy, private sector implementation, finance and investment, evaluation methods and tools, communications and advocacy, and alignment between the TCA community and other social and environmental initiatives.
In this session, co-leads of the TCA Dialogue Series will share the highlights from these workshops in lightning-talk style, followed by a moderated panel discussion on the most compelling and strategic ideas that emerged for scaling TCA implementation. Participants will be invited to respond with comments and questions.

Workshops: Strategic Opportunities
Participants in the TCA Dialogue Series identified specific actions needed to dramatically scale TCA implementation by 2030. These inputs were reviewed and synthesized to identify the ideas that shared broad support, provoked divergent opinions, or represented innovations from local or regional efforts that have yet to be broadly adopted.
In two interactive breakout sessions, participants will explore these opportunities in depth and co-create the roadmaps necessary to turn these ideas into action.
While the TCA Dialogue Series was organized by thematic tracks, these workshop topics will connect participants with a systems view of the cross-cutting considerations necessary to advance each strategic opportunity.
Please note that interpretation services will not be available for breakout sessions.

Workshops: What are Our Superpowers?
The clock is ticking to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the case for TCA has never been clearer. The FAO estimates that the hidden costs of global agrifood systems total at least $10 trillion annually—costs borne by people, nature, and economies. As we’ve heard at this Summit so far, TCA offers a roadmap to transform food systems by making these hidden costs visible and guiding smarter decisions for a more sustainable future.
Now is the time to pivot to action and think about the specific contributions we can each make to meet the goal of scaling TCA implementation by 2030.
In this workshop, participants will begin to identify the specific ways we can work together to create the enabling conditions necessary to meet this goal. An opening panel will briefly discuss strategies that drive organizational and systems transformation, followed by an interactive discussion with the group to map our collective spheres of influence and any gaps. Participants should come prepared to share the strengths and resources they and their respective organizations can offer, as well as their areas of need.
Please note that interpretation services will not be available for breakout sessions.
